Construction is anticipated to take two years to complete. It is expected to take two years to create the final design & permitting in order to begin construction. Completion of the concept design phase should take approximately one year to complete including public engagement. The conceptual planning for the facility has begun. The team lead by Davis Kane+Populous was selected. Project ConceptĬary completed the review process for hiring the design team for project in Spring 2022. Cary was awarded an initial amount and was recently updated to $75 million in grant funding in 2023. In January 2020, Cary responded to Wake County’s Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Wake County Hospitality Tax Grant to help pay for the new multi-purpose indoor sports center. The DSP suggests the need to develop a sports complex to support countywide sports tourism and travel and to attain Wake county’s long-term goals. The plan found that a missing element of the countywide sports complex model is an indoor, multiuse sports facility that will balance with the county’s inventory of outdoor sports fields and venues.
